1.Vitamin A, which shows toxicity in its high levels. Beta carotene has antioxidant properties due to carotenoid. Onions, carrots, peas. Spanish, squash foods that are rich in vitamin A

2.Study shows that the smokers who have a high level of beta carotene, are prone to get lung cancer. On the other hand, some of the studies show that it might reduce the cognitive decline Some evidence suggests that beta carotene might slow cognitive decline

3.These supplements of the Beta carotene supplements have interaction with the statins and other mineral oils. Beta carotene might help older people retain their lung strength as they age.

The following foods that is rich in beta carotene:

Benefits and uses of beta carotene

As an antioxidant –
Beta carotene, work as an antioxidant, like all, other carotenoids. Antioxidant protects the body from free radicals by inhibiting the oxidation of other harmful molecules. When the oxidation process occurs it damages the cells, and can cause several chronic health problems. Various studies proved that the antioxidants in the body protect the body by helping the body’s immune system and decrease the risks of heart and cancer disease.

Slows down the cognitive decline –
Most of the studies claim that consumption of beta carotene might decrease the extent of cognitive decline. In the cognitive decline, oxidative stress is the major factor. By taking the antioxidants supplements, the degree of the decline may be decreased. One placebo study has done over the group of men, but they found no as such delay in the cognitive decline, instead they, clear the long term use of beta carotene supplements can delay the cognitive decline.

Beta carotene keeps the lungs healthy –
Researches show that the use of, beta carotene, and high blood sugar, level protects the lungs by compensating the damage by the oxygen radicals.

Drug interactions of beta carotene –
drug interaction term refer to the activity when in the medication work a substance interferes to know about its activity. It might make the effect of the drug less effective might it catalysis the activity of the drug.
Here are given supplements that interfere with the beta carotene supplements;

1.Statins - if the patient is taking beta carotene then the activity of the simvastatin and niacin can interfere.

2.Cholesterol-lowering drugs – thirty to forty percent of blood levels of the beta carotene can be decreased through the cholestyramine and colestipol.

3.Orlistat (Xenical, Alli)-. Weight control medication, known to reduce the beta carotene level by 30 percent through its absorption. Beta carotene supplements can be taken before the two hours of Orlistat.

4.Mineral oil – most of the minerals are used in the treatment of constipation. They have some known effects y lowering the effects of beta carotene. Although long term consumption of alcohol shows some interaction with the beta carotene, it may create a problem by raising the risks of developing liver problems.

Precaution you should take before taking beta carotene –
1.If you have known allergy for the beta carotene, you should tell your doctor.
2.If you develop any kind of reaction or signs, tell your doctors about the sigs.β-Carotene
